Music Ministry

Music Ministry

We have a vibrant music program at BRUU, with many opportunities for YOU to be involved.

There are four choirs, for adults, children and youth.

  • The adult choir meets on Wednesday nights from 7-8:30 (childcare is available) and sings twice monthly for worship services (on second and third Sundays).
  • Our children’s choir includes grades 3-6/7 and meets on the first and third Sundays of each month from 11:30-12:30. After rehearsal on third Sundays, we have lunch together at the church.
  • The youth choir is for grades 7/8-12 and meets three times monthly, on first Sunday evenings from 5-6:30 (includes dinner together during the last half hour), on second Sunday mornings from 11:30-12:30 and on one Thursday night from 6:30-7:30.
  • The UUP BEATS is a choir for all ages and meets on first and third Thursdays from 1-2:00; this group learns hymns, chants, rounds and simple part songs. Bring a bag lunch and come early for fellowship at 12:15.

Anyone who can carry a tune is welcome to join a choir; it is not necessary that you be able to read music or have prior experience.

If you play a musical instrument and would like to share your talent at BRUU, we have informal ensembles that meet and play periodically. Contact Annease Hastings for more information and/or if you would like to play for a worship service sometime.

Events

Evensong services are mostly musical, alternative worship experiences. Using poetry, dance, story, and song, we explore a wide range of topics. Often contemplative, always refreshing, they are a different way to worship together.

We offer Evensong services about four times a year on Friday nights at 7:30 with fellowship and food afterwards.
