Membership
From the Membership Committee Charter: The Membership Committee’s purpose is to:
- welcome and integrate new people into BRUU,
- support and enhance connections for all BRUU members and friends,
- maintain accurate membership records in order to support the BRUU Administrative Board in certifying the count of members for the UUA and determining a quorum at congregational meetings.
The responsibilities of the Membership Committee are as follows:
- Recruit, train, and follow up with a team of Visitor Greeters who meet, welcome, and track first-time and returning visitors.
- Provide literature on UU and BRUU to newcomers in information packets given to them and in public displays such as the BRUU Information Table.
- Initiate or support activities that help welcome visitors and encourage them in becoming members or friends of BRUU.
- Oversee the process of becoming a BRUU member, by:
a) Defining details of membership requirements in agreement with Bylaws and with Board approval,
b) Publicizing membership requirements,
c) Hosting membership book signing ceremonies,
d) Supporting minister with orientation classes, and
e) Tracking orientation status of people joining BRUU.
- Initiate or support activities that help welcome and integrate new members into BRUU, by:
a) Posting photos of new members,
b) Hosting New Member Dinners,
c) Recognizing new members at a Sunday Service or the Annual Meeting
d) Promoting and assisting in the invitation of new members to fill open slots at Auction events.
- Oversee maintenance of membership database, by:
a) Providing information to the Board to help generate membership counts for certification and quorum determination,
b) Assisting in publication of the BRUU Directory of Members and Friends.
