Preamble
Love is the spirit of this congregation and service is its calling.
This is our great covenant –
- To help each other to thrive,
- To seek the truth in love,
- And to dwell together in peace.
Covenant
As members of BRUU, serving our congregation with passion and commitment, we strive to:
Help each other thrive (Acceptance)
- Welcome people of goodwill
- Provide opportunities to share diverse ideas in a safe place
- Support and encourage the personal and spiritual growth of others, acknowledging that each person has a unique path and truth
- Express ourselves in ways that respect each other’s inherent worth and dignity
- Treat each other with compassion, reach out to those in need
- Rejoice in one another, recognizing that joyfully sharing song, food and fun helps nourish creativity and strengthen bonds
Seek the truth in love (Integrity)
- Take responsibility for our own spiritual growth
- Be honest and authentic
- Listen attentively and value the experience and perspective of others
- Hold ourselves accountable for our own actions
Dwell together in peace (Conflict Resolution)
- Approach disagreements and conflicts constructively, communicating with others in a direct, caring and responsible manner
- Assume good intentions
- View conflict as an opportunity for growth
- Advocate for mediation and resolution processes that are fair, helpful and kind
- Seek and offer forgiveness, for everyone makes mistakes
